A simple way to go at arrival and departure, no complicated. Air conditioning in departure room only. Arrival space simple and grab your luggage if you bring it.

On descending to Mulu airport, the view of the jungle and the mountains is simply awesome. I felt like coming to Jurassic park. This is a very small airport with a single airstrip. The only airplane plying the route in and out of this airport to Miri is Maswing. It is a very simple airport with only a little souvenir shop at the departure waiting hall. There is a public toilet but no restaurant. The baggage collection area is so simple, no conveyor belt to bring you the luggage. But otherwise, the personnels are very efficient in handling passenger needs. The arrival hall deco looks more like a resort than a airport.
Busy airport in the northern region of Sarawak. Bit small for the volume of passengers during peak periods. Clean airport.
Has convenience on both ground floor and departure hall. Souvenir shops on ground, first floors and in departure hall. Good feature for those who didnt find time to do this during their stay in the centre due to work etc.
A new feature I noticed was the additional seating area and toilets. Very thoughtful of the management.
Overall, a good airport to fly through.
Its a small airport but plays a vital role in connecting the city to various destinations within Malaysia n nearby countries like Brunei n Indonesia. The check in process was quick n efficient n the staff was friendly n helpful. The airport itself clean n well maintained, with a good selection of shop n restaurants.
MIRI – SARAWAK –
EAST MALAYSIA
MIRI airport NEWLY RENEWED AIRPORT however its doesn’t have public transit access.
You may can choose by airport taxi or Grab service. A better option is to take a Garb taxi a cheaper ride.
There are not many flights, so lines are short. Note that after security checks, you need to be inspected by immigration officer, even for domestic flights.
The single waiting lounge has a perfume shop, souvenir shop, Famous Amos sweets shop, and The Coffee Bean cafe, along with toilets, paid massage chairs, and the Executive Lounge.
There are more extensive food and shopping options before security. I was not able to connect to the only unsecured Wi-Fi network; it’s not clear if it’s intended for passengers or not. You might be able to use The Coffee Bean’s connection if you buy something and ask nicely?
Otherwise, you’ll need a data plan or to pay for lounge access.
Note: Sarawak and Sabah maintain immigration autonomy. If you received an arrival slip at the immigration counter on arrival in Sarawak from elsewhere in Malaysia, return the slip to the officer when you pass through departure immigration; For foreign passport holders, the officers will stamp your passport when you pass through the arrival and departure immigration. For all other international flights, the usual departure immigration procedure will apply.
Miri International Airport stands out as a top-notch medium-sized airport with excellent terminal facilities. To enhance the experience, it could benefit from inviting more grocery and branded stores, allowing travelers to make last-minute purchases, and offering rare duty-free items not commonly found in Miri town. Additionally, regular inspections and cleaning of toilet facilities every 30 minutes are essential for maintaining impeccable hygiene standards.
DO NOT ENTER INTERNATIONAL DEPARTURE AREA UNTIL JUST BEFORE YOUR BOARDING TIME.
The departure area for local/Malaysia flights is fine, has a bunch of shops and cafes to hang out in. The international departure area on the other hand is a small room with hard benches and no amenities except a toilet.
If you enter too soon you will be stuck in the waiting room for up to an hour or more with nothing to do but write Google reviews.
The rest of the airport is nice enough, it’s clean and has some food and drink choices like Starbucks and Boost juice.
