  1. Penang International Airport, a gateway to the beautiful island of Penang, is often used by travelers for various purposes, including medical check-ups and clinic visits. Its small and efficient layout makes it an ideal choice for quick in-and-out journeys, where you can arrive, complete your business, and depart all within a single day.

One of the most significant advantages of this airport is its compact size. Unlike larger, more congested airports, you won’t find long queues or excessive wait times here. The streamlined check-in and security procedures ensure a smooth and swift experience, allowing you to save valuable time.

While Penang International Airport may not have an extensive array of dining options, it still offers several restaurants. These establishments serve a variety of cuisines, allowing travelers to grab a quick meal or a snack before their flights. It’s a convenient feature for those who want to refuel before their journey.

Penang International Airport is a practical choice for travelers with specific needs, such as medical check-ups or clinic visits, particularly when their trips are short and time-sensitive. The airport’s small size and efficient processes provide a hassle-free experience. Although it may not have an extensive range of dining options, it serves its purpose well for those seeking a quick, no-fuss journey.

  2. Just chiming the concerns from previous comments. The airport seems way too small for the number of passengers it serves. Although I used the airport at wee hours of near-midnight and weekend morning, I can imagine what the passengers could have been through in rush hours, especially if a few or more flights got delayed. Very little to do even in landside, it has no waving gallery as well to pass the time and see the plane traffic in and out of the aerodrome.

If you are fond of unique souvenirs, there’s a Penang medal vending machine in the international flight sector of the airside (no idea if this also exists in landside or domestic flight section).

The upside is that it’s super easy to navigate. The immigration was also no fuss and a breeze (both inbound and outbound).

  3. Penang airport is a convenient and affordable gateway to the beautiful island of Penang, Malaysia. It is located in Bayan Lepas, about 20 km from George Town, the capital city of Penang. The airport offers domestic and international flights to various destinations in Southeast Asia and beyond.

The airport has a modern and spacious terminal building, with two levels of shops, restaurants, cafes, and lounges. The Plaza Premium Lounge is the only lounge available at the international departures area, where you can enjoy complimentary food, drinks, Wi-Fi, newspapers, magazines, showers, and comfortable seating. The lounge also has a spa service for an extra fee.

The airport has several facilities for passengers to relax and refresh before or after their flight. There are duty-free shops selling a variety of products at competitive prices. There are also ATMs, currency exchange booths, postal services, medical services, prayer rooms, and baby care centers. The airport also has a free shuttle bus service to nearby hotels and attractions.

The airport staff are friendly and helpful, and the immigration process is smooth and efficient. The check-in counters are open 24 hours a day for most airlines. The baggage claim area is well-organized and easy to navigate. The security checks are quick and hassle-free.

The airport is well-connected to George Town by public transportation or taxi. You can take a bus from the airport to the city center for RM 2 per person. Alternatively, you can take a Grab Car Penang, which is a ride-hailing service that operates in Penang. You can book your Grab Car online or through the app before you arrive at the airport.

Penang airport is a great choice for travelers who want to explore the rich culture and heritage of Penang. You can easily visit some of the famous attractions in George Town by taking public transportation or Grab Car Penang from the airport. Some of the must-see places include Kek Lok Si Temple, Penang Hill, Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion, Street Art Tour, Food Street, Night Market, and more.

Penang airport is also close to some of the best beaches in Malaysia. You can enjoy swimming, sunbathing, surfing, snorkeling, or diving at places like Batu Ferringhi Beach, Tanjung Bungah Beach, Teluk Bahang Beach, Monkey Beach, Gurney Drive Beach, and more.

Penang airport is one of Malaysia’s most important airports that offers excellent service and value for money. It is easy to reach from George Town by public transportation or taxi. It has a modern terminal building with various facilities for passengers’ convenience and comfort. It has direct flights to some of Southeast Asia’s most exciting destinations from Penang.

  4. Some to little “readable” signs for International travellers and it appeared to be of smaller capacity to deal with the amount of travellers served for international flights.
If you had no experienced travelling, you might end up spending your time searching around the airport to prepare for your departure flight.
Arrival is much straightforward for travellers.

  5. It’s a nice airport complete with clean toilets, water and internet stations, surau for our Muslim brothers and sisters, a big Starbucks, Kedai Biskut Ban Heang, Old Town Coffee Express, Tealive, and WHSmith Convenience Store. Clean, comfy, and provides natural light.

To those who are complaining about the noise, what do you expect? You’re living beside an airfield where people are risking their lives trying to protect our country. Of course they have to fly the planes at night, it’s due to the fact that enemies can attack us at any time. Next time, think twice before buying a house next to one, location is always important.
