Decided to tapau 2 Lei Cha and 1 Salted Fish Fried Rice. This is our very FIRST time that the lei cha soup we tapau-ed went sour! I could not believe it. Tasted again. Yes, it was sour. So we had to throw away the soup and only ate the rice. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Overall 4.5⭐

Simple diner that serves hearty and delicious hakka cuisine. The star of the show was undoubtedly the lei cha. Even on a standalone basis, the dish was fragrant and had layers of texture. Paired with the herby green soup, the combination excels further. The other standouts….. the humble fried rice – we loved both the preserved vege fried rice and silverfish fried rice. Texture was perfect – no lumpy rice or leftover oil on the plate! Surprisingly their vegetarian paos (lei cha and ginger) were excellent too – pao dough was fluffy and filling had umami.

The other dishes such as yong tau fu and fried bean curd skin were satisfying. Stewed pork with mantou was average. Only one dish (the abacus) disappointed – abacus were marble-sized and could do with better texture.

Drinks and tong sui were decent. Overall, prices were normal for a diner of this type. Lei cha, the star dish, did cost a bit more.

I really hope the Michelin Bib gourmand award does not affect the quality of the food served here ??????. But well done to its founder. Well deserved.

Our family all-time favourite restaurant for authentic Hakka food… Congratulations for receiving the Michelin Guide award (Bib Gourmand – good food for reasonable price)… Keep it up!

starting with the good stuff. this leicha is really good, i think i have tried roughly more than 10 leicha so far, local kopi malaya, ho poh bandar puteri, kepong leicha king, TJ leicha, foong sister leicha puchong, simple life, bms organic, etc… this one is my second favourite is terms of taste, local kopi malaya is my favourite. so yes, the leicha is good. i give the food 5 stars

but the service ??. bad attitude, not friendly. make the food taste bad cuz of the bad service. i saw a few other 1 star reviews, i tot, must be picky and sombong customers give 1 star review just cuz of service. but wahlau, that two guys working thr damn rude and their overall order system is very inefficient. so no matter how good the food is, i will never ever come back here again.

I ordered curry mee via Grabfood. Total was RM14 including packaging RM1.50 but curry spilled into plastic bag because lid came off. Curry mee didn’t have chaw siew or siew yoke as per display photo on Grabfood, only had taupok, cockles and dried pig skin. No long beans. Not sure what curry mee this is. Pls improve your curry mee, nobody wants to eat noodles like this.

    1. Taste of home cook meals. Prices not cheap. Stew pork rice worth trying. Some dishes not available even tho stated in menu. Taste not bad. Can give it a try.

    2. Simplicity…
Won’t feel guilty after the meal as it is simple, taste just nice and not oily.
Meat ball is a must try. The taohu is delicious too.

2nd visit… return to try more dishes. Fried fish head and soy sauce stew pork are good too.

3rd visit. Lunch time bit warm due the weather. Doesn’t feel much of a/c.

    3. Very nice little restaurant in Segambut neighbourhood. It’s like home cook food, comfort, not oily, but taste nice. We ordered Ginger Chicken, Stir Fried Sweet Potato Leaves, Stewed Pork, and Hometown Tofu. Everything was nicely done. Meat was tender, soup was warm and comforting, sauces are addictive, and great cooking skill.
Food: 9/10, Price: About RM20++ per pax

    4. The food is good and home cooked style. Highly recommended especially the gravy pork. The meat is tender.
