    09 Dec 20’ I been here more than six times; only today write this review;

The main dish is well done, only soup taste is flat. Kimchi quality inconsistent

03 Mar. 31’ Came here quite often, at least once or twice a month; at this late hour; my wife prefer Sabah fish + chicken set meal $6.

01 Sept 21’ Back to here for late dinner, ordered Sabah fish with Chicken.?

Situated in the Happy Hawker coffee shop this is a popular stall that sells a mixture of Japanese and Korean set meals. Their best seller and personal recommendation would be hotplate saba fish set, taste is consistently good, fresh, and price is very reasonable. Stall has close to 40 dishes, order takeaway is also available via phone call.

Worst kimchi chicken ramen ever. Soup is bland, chicken is chewy and overcooked. Disappointing.

Their Kimchi Chicken Ramen is to die for, I’m literally addicted. Its a definitely a must-try if you’re a fan of spicy!! Idk how they make it so perfect, but it is and if i were put on death row, i would request their kimchi chicken ramen as my last meal.

Definitely better dine in, the ramen easily gets too soggy when you take out (unless you live nearby)!

Ordered foodpanda delivery from this stall. The food came with missing items. The worst experience was to find foreign object in the food. Really unhygienic and super disgusting. Don’t deserve a single star at all!

  1. Been there multiple times simply because their seafood pancake is delicious and was at one point, one of the best Korean pancakes we’ve had.

However, I must admit that their staff and owner’s attitude can be rather lacking at times – we don’t exactly feel welcomed at the restaurant and it seems like a hassle for them whenever we called for attention. The BBQ meat is average at best but their side dishes and main dishes such as their stews are pretty good. The menu is also quite extensive with a good variety.

As always, the food is pricey as per most Korean restaurants. I’ve gradually stopped visiting as there are better restaurants nearby with better prices and service.

  2. My first visit to this shop, after Google suggested to me, LOL. We had the BBQ set that consists of beef and pork. Later on, we added the 2mm pork belly, which I loved so much of the solid meat texture! The Korean boss cooked all the meats on our table, nice… There are 6 side dishes, salad, soup, and steam egg included. I simply loved the potato salad! The Cass beer added a final touch to my meal, which I enjoyed so much! Thank you!! ♡

  3. I visited this restaurant on 13 Nov 2023. On my previous visit here, I had a terrible experience but decided to give this place a chance to redeem themselves as it had been quite a few months since then.

Don’t get it wrong, the food here was decent. The side dishes were amazing, especially the potato salad.

However, what made both of my meals at this restaurant terrible was the service. Firstly, the staff were impatient and had bad attitude – it felt like I owed them something. It made the entire meal very uneasy. This brings me to my second point, slow service.
I had a buffet set, and it was very disappointing. Every time I requested service from the staff, they were slow and as mentioned earlier, had bad attitude. Asking them for help to refill dishes was scary because of their glares. It felt like I was asking for a bar of gold from a stingy rich person. So as you can see, this buffet experience was already terrible. Maybe it is a strategy the restaurant employs to prevent customers from overeating, but given the price point, I personally feel that it is quite unfair.
Lastly, the male owner himself came to tell us in person that we cannot request for anymore refills of the potato salad. My family spent over $200 on this buffet. To think that the restaurant cannot offer a refill on potato salad, a dish that would fill me up quite easily is absolutely ridiculous. Assuming the management of the restaurant wanted to maximise their profits, it would be a better strategy to constantly offer their free cheap side dishes which consists of carbohydrates ; a cheaper alternative to proteins.
Moreover, I would like to add that I did not “spam” the potato salad refills. I had only asked specifically for refills of potato salad and on my sixth refill I was told that they would not be serving anymore.

This sums up my experience at Choga Korean Restaurant Hillv2.
In short, it is a buffet with slow service. Staff is ill mannered and lackadaisical. Food is good, but given the amount I’m paying and the service I endured, I would recommend tourists from other countries craving for Korean bbq and locals looking for a nice Korean bbq meal to not patronise this restaurant.
Instead, I’d recommend Guiga Korean BBQ restaurant at Tanjong Pagar. It’s not a buffet, but I can guarantee that for $200 you would get food of higher quality and service fitting for royalty.

  4. Worst BBQ place I have ever went to. Look at the amount of meat for $78 set. Menu states enough to feed 2-3 pax? Attitude of employees were trash.

  5. It has been 2 years since I last visited this restaurant. I thought it would have improved given all the constructive reviews and feedback, but NO. It is as bad as ever and officially in my blacklist. There are better restaurants to spend your money on.
