However it is a bit troublesome for people who drives. There is no waiting area and you have go 1 round to avoid blocking other drivers.

My most comforting place in the whole of Jurong West! Quiet place, AC, cool drinking water, awesome book collection… what else could one ask for? The NLB App is also pretty impressive.

Would have given five stars, if the library tightly regulated on the table bookings. Many times I book one, but find that the table is occupied by someone.

Pls bring back soon the learning platform like Udemy Business!

Nice library to spend a whole day. It has different areas for kids and adults. Most of all, it is connected to the MRT station and Jurong Point Mall. Super convenient!

1st time in so many years, my 4yo son was told to read quietly in a read a loud corner (he was not screaming). Could be a 1 staff issue, but beware to all parents.

The library is not too crowded. The maximum duration you can stay is 2 hours continuous and if you want to stay longer, you need to check-out and check-in again due to Covid-19 safe distance measures which I believe is understandable. The services are free of charge unless you need to borrow books. Their website has all the fee details if you need to get the membership. Overall, it’s a lovely place to study/ read with peace of mind!

Small, cozy community library! Facilities are new , desktops are 100% touchscreens, resources are all online, overall a conducive place to do some reading! There is also an area for children to read/play/chill, there is also quite a big selection of kids’s books! Remember to register for library membership using your PAssion card! Processing time for me, took 7 seven days. After which just tap your PAssion card to enter the library! If you don’t have a PAssion card, you can easily register at the CC counter, but processing time for the card would take some time though.

On Saturday of May 21, I tried to visit the library the first time. It was not accessible to the public unless a person has gone to the adjacent community centre to submit an application to gain entry using Passion card, and wait for 2 weeks to process. Such requirement is unique as far as I know on libraries in Sgp. Such requirement was not found in its FB or web portal for the public.

Only passion card holders can use the ‘nlb’ library, and thats after you registered in person at the office. The bummer is that the bespectacled guy in office claim I can only use it when they have ‘approve’ my application after 2 weeks ???totally defeated the purpose of a community center to serve residents living nearby

“Our west coast library” is a small scale NLB library which is opening soon. There are desktops which suggest that this library will mainly be for electronic reading.

What I like in libraries: Books that are available that I originally have on my online To-Be-Read (TBR). Spacious environments. Multiple book genres.

Once you enter and walk forward a few steps and turn to the right, you’ll notice these three long green sofas. I think that, if for some reason, you can’t find a seat on the floors above, the green sofas are a good place to sit. Also because they are comfy. They also have some green seats near the escalator.

Once you have reached the second floor, you’ll see 5 black seats, almost back to back, and that’s also a nice area to sit. If you keep walking straight after reaching the second floor by escalator, you’ll notice a few tables close to the windows, and that’s good for studying, using your computers, and reading. They also have DVDs, and you can also test them.

If you walk back to the escalator and turn to the right, you’ll notice this big section of shelves and just space basically. And that’s a good place to study. They also have Chinese, Malay, and more.

Once you’ve reached level 3, you’ll notice straight away that there’s this large section for the Singapore Collection. On the fourth floor there are teen books. Once you reach the top of the escalators you’ll see a big sign that says ‘Verging all teens’. Once you’ve found a book you can go to the right and there are a few seats and a big open space.

There is a good selection of books. There are horror, science fiction, and more. At the side of the shelf there usually is a cover of a book that many people liked, and the description of the book.

Overall, I would say the Jurong Regional library is a nice and spacious library to do many things. It’s also a nice library if you’re a student, and a good place to come with your friends.

  2. Not been here for at least 10 years and got a shock initially with its barren looking level one where there are literally more chairs than books, but once you got onto level two, a typical looking library resumed.

The outlook of level one seems intentional to entice those that doesn’t enjoy reading and usually would not step into a library. This management seems to understand that the regional library with its vast space, can be more than just a platform for lending books. The same design language applies to the whole place with comfortable seatings across all levels and all corners as you probably nvr seen so much armchairs within a library.

Now, attracting people to the library is one thing, enticing them to pick up a book is another. A non-regular reader would felt overwhelmed with the non-ending stack of books squeezed into a bookshelf. For the space they had, the library could do more in the way the books are displayed, more face out display of the books(not just limiting to magazines) would have been an effective way to entice those who entered the library not even with the intention of borrowing a book.

  3. Definitely a good place for all types of people.
A place for students to study and get reference.
A place for family with kids to start them on reading.
A place for anyone to just take a rest from their daily life and do some simple reading.
