The location is excellent – in a quiet street, but close to Chinatown and to the bus station. Beer can be had at the food place downstairs and great coffee is just around the corner.
The room was clean and spacious, with quite a distance between the end of the bed and the wall – only partly used by the small desk. WiFi worked well. I had warm, rather than hot, water in the shower.
Hotel service was good, friendly and helpful. Location of the hotel was good too, walking distance to Chinatown and Waterfront area. Parking lots seems to be quite full at night so it’s a first come first served basis.

(stay for 4 days 3 nights for 2 adults. Deluxe Queen Room with breakfast.):
1. Recommended to provide 2 cards ( max ) per room.
2. Nights of mosquitoes. Hotel management MUST check any mosquito breeding grounds.
3. ‘Cop parking’ attitude from one of your customers. Hotel management need to add this to their policy as a deterrent to customer as not to showcase such disgusting behavior as it will tarnish your hotel reputation by having such customer.
4.Fridge. Recommended to have one per room.
5. Service not to the standard. Example: waited for 15 minutes for extra soaps and was informed by the hotel assistant, wrong room number was given and I was informed that after 5pm ( or 4pm) number of hotel personnel including receptionist is 3, hence the delay.
Hotel Seri Malaysia is one of the old players in service and hospitality in Malaysia and it will be better for the hotel management to consider the above points for future improvement.
Very old hotel , not very well maintained. Luckily the bed, pillow and air-conditioning is great condition. Bed and pillow very comfortable and clean. But good view , and sea view. Good location walking distance to tourist spot turtle alley, night market, restaurants, China town.
Stayed 1 night in June due to the location – near Chinatown (sad that Chinatown seems like a dead town!). The staffs very friendly and check in fuss free. Old hotel but room was clean, although the bathroom really need some upgrade. Plenty of parking but can be full during peak period.
Overall a good place to rest, for the price.
We enjoyed our stay here and we will definitely come again. Actually, this is the third time we stayed here. Keep it up HSMKT!
