  A beautiful Thai comtemporary architectural building hosting a number of events and exhibitions, showcasing Thai art and designs ranging from traditional Thai arts and crafts to contemporary arts. Make sure to walk outside and the inside to see all of their works.

  Some big events like Chiang Mai design week are hosted here as well. Check their program for interesting events and exhibitions.

  The area is historical site of ancient wall and Phra Kaew Temple (玉佛寺). A combination ticket for three museum : Lanna Folklife museum, Chiang Mai City and Art & Culture Centre and Chiang Mai Historical Museum costs 180 Baht. one week valid.

  Exceptional place to learn of the local culture. Air conditioned inside and houses an actual archeological site. Can be a quick visit or spend a few hours taking in all the information. Only cost a few dollars.

  This place is a great place to get to know the history of Chiang Mai. It is spacious, there are information both in Thai and English. Staff were great! I also love how clean everything is.

  We went today, August 25th, 2022, and the historic center is still closed due to construction.

  There is the cultural center next door with a few art exhibitions, but not much else to see. There is also a drip coffee shop in the cultural center that has nice indoor and outdoor seating in the courtyard.

  A lovely, quiet spot to take in all of the ancient ruins. We took the horse and cart ride. It was one hour and 300 Baht. Our driver was very kind and stopped at each site to allow us to get out and explore if we wanted to. I would have loved to learn more history on the tour.

  There is a small cafe (drinks only) at the entrance. There is not much around to go to, but we easily used Grab to get a car to another spot in the city!

  These ruins are important in Lanna, then Siam history, and the best part is you can do them yourself and take your time!

  I took a taxi down from central Chiang Mai, then chose to walk the ruins for several hours. (Full disclosure, I’m a historian!) Beyond the info center – which should be your starting point – there’s little info. You can, however, find several good info sites online to have with you.

  Several of the ruins are part of modern temples as well, with much more to see and drinks/toilets available. I chose to walk, but you can also rent bikes for a slower tour. Personally, I enjoyed seeing the surrounding residential area and chatting with locals. For those short on time, you can choose a horse and buggy or electric tram.

  Whatever you choose, this is certainly a site with seeing – and there’s lots of ongoing construction as the various sites are upgraded. (But be warned, I expected a stray taxi or tuk-tuk at the closest temple to town, there was nothing. Just be prepared with Grab!)

  Ancient city of Chiang mai, 20 min drive from city center. 7 sites to visit by a buggy or a horse cart which cost 300B. Nice to enjoy ancient environment as well as living monastries and morden living houses together.

  It’s ok to visit if you have spare time. However, the ruins are really scattered and spread out over a wide area. Some nice and quiet temples in that area however. Recommend to take either the tram or drive around to visit the sites. It’s on a much smaller scale as well, and might be disappointing for those who had visited Ayutthaya outside Bangkok.

  This is not a temple or historical building. It is a tourist centre where you get the information about the temples or historical buildings in the area. You can hire a horse ride to visit some of the temples. But, it will be more convenient if you visit with your own motorcycle
