Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage is showcased in its numerous cultural sites, each offering a unique glimpse into the country’s past and traditions. Here are the five largest cultural sites in Vietnam:
- Thang Long Imperial Citadel (Hanoi):
Spread over an expansive area, the Thang Long Imperial Citadel served as the political and cultural center of Vietnam for over a millennium. Its preserved structures, including the majestic Hanoi Flag Tower, provide insights into the country’s imperial history.
- Old Quarter of Hanoi (Hanoi):
Steeped in history, the labyrinthine alleys of Hanoi’s Old Quarter are lined with ancient houses, temples, and traditional shops, offering a glimpse into the city’s past. Visitors can explore its bustling markets and savor the flavors of local street food.

Once a thriving religious and cultural center of the ancient Champa Kingdom, the My Son Sanctuary features an array of intricately carved temples and towers set amidst lush greenery. Its architectural beauty and historical significance make it a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Encompassing both subterranean and terrestrial wonders, the Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park is renowned for its extensive cave systems, including the world’s largest cave, Hang Sơn Đoòng. Its diverse landscapes also boast dense forests, cascading waterfalls, and vibrant wildlife.

A masterpiece of Vietnamese architecture, the Hue Imperial City served as the seat of the Nguyen Dynasty from the 19th to the 20th century. Its sprawling complex includes palaces, temples, pavilions, and gardens, offering a glimpse into the grandeur of imperial Vietnam.

Independence Palace
The gardens around the palace are peaceful too. You can find fighter jet and some tanks park in the garden.
They also offers an audioguide for an additional fee, which is a great way to get even more information.
Nearby, there’s an exhibition center. If you’re planning to visit both, I highly recommend getting a combo ticket which include the audioguide fee as well.
If you’re into country’s rich history this is one of great places to check out!

a month agoThis place was just incredible and has to be seen to be believed. I accidentally entered the premises via a back gate so didn’t actually pay but it’s worth paying whatever the price is. There definitely aren’t too many palaces in the world where you have such free reign with so many interesting rooms and decor to see. A great place to escape the heat and amazing foresight to leave everything untouched since 1975.a month agoThe Independence Palace in Saigon is a captivating historical landmark that beautifully showcases Vietnam’s journey to independence. The architectural elegance and preserved rooms provide a glimpse into the nation’s past, making it a must-visit for history enthusiasts. The lush gardens surrounding the palace add to its charm, creating a serene atmosphere for visitors to explore and reflect on Vietnam’s rich history.2 weeks agoInitially we weren’t planing on visiting the Independence Palace but after cruising by in a Grab we decided to check it out the following day. So glad we decided to visit the site as it’s a massive structure arrested in 1975. The sheer indulgence in the volumes of each room are striking to experience. The interior spaces resist any form of human closeness and instead impose a distance between people evidenced by the grand tables, extremely separated seating, broad walkways around the palace. Even the primary apartment feels dehumanized. This isn’t a critique of the space but more an awareness of how palpable the authority of the space is felt throughout. Not to be missed.Related articles:- The 7 Biggest Water Park in Da Nang
