a week agoI originally enjoyed my fist days at this hostel, but it all changed when they decided they no longer care about their customers. I rented a motorbike through the hostel that promptly had mechanical issues and broke down. Not only did I have to push it to a mechanic for repairs, the hostel refused to cover the cost of MAINTENANCE REPAIRS and held my passport hostage until the tourist police were involved.Facilities are decent but I have never felt so disrespected by hostel staff in my 14 years of traveling. Completely ruined my overall experience and would not recommend to anyone.
2 weeks agoGreat hostel, lots of theme nights. Staff very helpful. Didn’t enjoy the pool being under a cover and beds are pretty hard, depends how you like your mattresses. Very sociable hostel however no security at night so can be very noisy.2 weeks agoI spent 3 nights here including new year. It’s very social hostel (not a party hostel, the perfect mixed) where you can meet nice people. The chill place is definitely the highlight of the hostel. Staff cool, beds have curtains, facilities well organized.3 months agoGreat hostel, mix of party and chilled vibes. I have now stayed here twice and enjoyed it both times. I stayed in a 6 bed and an 8 bed dorm. Both were well sized, good shower and toilet in the room. Pool is just an above ground pool with decking around it but it does the job of cooling you off after a long hot day. They are currently doing some construction and development on site to make a bar and restaurant which will be great when finished. So it can get a bit noisy during the day. The family who run it are very lovely and try helping you out as best they can. The location is fantastic just a short walk to most places worth seeing in the city – markets (morning and night), Mt Phousi, UXO museum, Royal Palace (national museum) and alms giving ceremony. 100% recommend.a month agoSocial hostel right on the river. Staff are amazing and super helpful, they have lots of tours running to the major attractions. Hostel has events running every night (games/movies/pub crawl). Loved staying here would definitely come back xx

a week agoMr. Then had an extraordinary experience at Mad Monkey Hostel! From the vibrant atmosphere to the engaging quiz, every moment was filled with excitement. The staff’s hospitality and the overall energy of the place made it an unforgettable stay. Highly recommended for those seeking a lively and entertaining hostel experience!4 months agoSuch a lovely little hostel!! Location is a bit far out from the centre of the town but extremely walkable. One of the reps, Tony, is absolutely amazing. She’s so kind and welcoming and is a hand in making the event nights at Mad Monkey so fun. Bit of a quieter MM than usual but it was actually really nice. A great balance between chill and partying hard. Would recommend!a week agoI couldn’t ask for anything more of the staff of Mad Monkey. They were there for any of my needs 24/7. Maxkee went beyond the call of duty to handle my booking, follow up with any of my requests throughout my stay, truly outstanding service along with her Lao kindness.2 months agoOverall a great experience. The staff is super friendly and nice. Rooms and common areas are very clean, I’ve randomly seen a housekeeper cleaning the bathrooms and they put a lot of effort to deeply clean every part of the area. The location is a bit far but that’s not an issue as it is easily accessible from downtown. Definitely recommended.2 months agoFor being a party hostel it was really boring, the whole town is closed from 23:00-06:00 for some reason. We don’t mind though because we’re not the partying kind! Rooms were clean with comfy beds (we got the ones with curtains). We’ve stayed at better Mad Monkey hostels
