Cambodia, although not particularly renowned for its extensive zoological facilities, does have a few noteworthy zoos that are home to a variety of animal species. While the country lacks the massive, globally renowned zoos found in some other regions, these Cambodian zoos offer visitors an opportunity to observe and learn about the local wildlife.

Here are 5 of the largest zoos in Cambodia, each with a unique collection of animals:

  • Phnom Penh Zoological and Botanical Garden: Located in the heart of Phnom Penh, this zoo is the largest in Cambodia and houses over 1,000 animals representing approximately 200 different species. The zoo is home to a diverse range of animals, including lions, tigers, elephants, bears, monkeys, birds, and reptiles.
  • Angkor National Museum Zoo: Situated near the iconic Angkor Wat temple complex, this zoo focuses on conserving endangered Cambodian species. Visitors can encounter animals such as Indochinese tigers, sun bears, pileated gibbons, and Asian elephants.
  • Sihanoukville Zoological Park: Located in the coastal city of Sihanoukville, this zoo is known for its collection of marine animals. In addition to terrestrial species, visitors can observe a variety of fish, sea turtles, and other marine creatures.
  • Sokimex Zoological Park: Situated in Battambang province, Sokimex Zoological Park is a privately owned zoo that houses over 2,000 animals from around the world. Visitors can see a wide range of species, including zebras, giraffes, hippos, and ostriches.
  • Banteay Srei Butterfly Center: Located near the Banteay Srei temple, this center is dedicated to butterflies. Visitors can walk through a netted enclosure filled with hundreds of butterflies of different species, fluttering around and showcasing their vibrant colors.

Had a phenomenal time at the safari, real clean place and lots of animals to see. It is also quite large and there are plenty of walkways with trees giving you shadow and breeze to cool off.

Great family atmosphere and plenty of food options to feast from.

The shows are amazing. They allow people to participate in the the shows and win rewards. There were dogs and tigere jumping through fire rings and you can buy food to feed the rabbits and fish who lives in a gigantic pond with a giant waterfall
