a year agoMy rating: 4/5 What I like in libraries: Books that are available that I originally have on my online To-Be-Read (TBR). Spacious environments. Multiple book genres.I have never seen a library like Bukit Panjang. It’s in a mall, and once you go to the highest level of the mall, you’ll notice there are 2 Bukit Panjang Libraries, when in reality they only have one, just the kind of spread it out a bit. On one side of the level, there’s a children’s section. On the other side, there’s an adults & teens zone.
The children’s zone is very spacious. The design of the children’s zone is very different and kind of unique. In the middle of the room, there’s these bookshelves on this circle thing, and you can walk up there, and there are a few shelves there too. They also have these like walls that are kind of separated, they form a circle, and you can sit in between the walls.
In the adult & teens zone, one of the first things I noticed was the shelves for the magazines. They were almost like a zig-zag in a sense. When you first walk in, you can see this swirly thing where they have a few books on display.
When you look up, you can notice the design close to the ceiling, and I think it’s really cool. Like the children’s zone, they also have separated walls that form a bit of a circle, and you can sit there, and work on your computers, study, and read. They also have audiovisuals, and a section with tables and computers.
There’s also this circle thing, once you’ve walked in a bit farther and turned to the right. It’s filled with bookshelves, tables, seats, and people. I noticed everyone that was sitting there was studying on their computers. Which makes me think the Bukit Panjang Library is a really nice place to study at. But I think it would be a bit harder to get a seat if you don’t come early.
Overall, I personally really like this library because I think you can do diverse things there like, reading, listening to an audiobook, working on your computers, studying, and more.
7 months agoWhile relatively small compared to other neighbourhood libraries, the Bukit Panjang Library is well-stocked and comprehensive in books available, is cosy with very nice ambience7 months agoThe design is creative and very spacious. Good for bringing your kids there. The only downside is the space constraint as the adult and kid side is located on 2 diff end of the mall on the same floor. this makes it hard to have both worlds at the same time. nonetheless, the new concept and design makes up for it. but might have to spend time on one side before going onto the next.3 years agoAfter this library was revonated the books that was added was quite a lot and I like how they separate the children and adults sections for the peace with the adults and the usual fun noise children make this library is also very spacious with quite a lot of cubicles to sit on5 years agoLibrary is actually segregated in 2 different locations (aka Children and Adults sections) on the same level and their enterance face each otherThe entire layout looks simplistic, open space and feels very conducive for reading and revising homework.

Small public library with some resting place for quiet reading inside a shopping mall.
Spacious lounge aircond relaxing quiet atmosphere with comfortable seating and fasciitis including many PC terminals for IT and reading. Conveniently located at neighbourhood heartland of West Mall walking distance to Bukit Batok MRT bus interchange with plenty of dinning shopping banking supermarkets library cinemas entertainments groceries sundries postage services community centre and amenities nearby. Friendly cosy comfy welcoming ambience for romantic intimates groups students expats locals visitors and families.

I expect here would be a quiet place as some people mentioned in the review they were stopped by liabary staff when they receive calls. But actually I met an old lady call very loudly without being stopped or warned.
Kids are also noisy and annoying……
Wish a quiet place to study?
Not a very big library if compared with Jurong East one but I prefer BB library, especially the children’s section. Some books are very new actually. Our son enjoys going there and find books on machinery and animals. Sometimes there are more kids (like Friday night), and there were quite a lot books on the return trolley but the staff and volunteers are always happy to help. Nice place!
