a week agoPassed by this cafe and thought it was worth a visit, so I went there. Staff did not greet us when we entered. In fact, They did nothing other than bringing the food here and calling us to order ourselves… One of the workers assisted us to a seat and gave us only One menu and we even had to Scan QR Code to order. Ended up having to take more menus by ourselves and ordered. Ordered a plate of nasi lemak, croissant. The fact that the nasi lemak is over RM30 yet it was just quite ordinary is just ridiciulous. The croissants were just ok,nothing speical. The drinks we ordered were a Hot chocolate, iced latte and a babycino. The hot choc was very average and they charged us an freaking RM13, I’d rather make milo at home man. Babycino was just some average hot milk. Nothing special for the latte. Me and my pocket ate the food with an unhappy face. The bill came at an whopping RM170 for just 4pax. There are definetly some other reasonable cafes in Penang. Will never return again.4 months agoThere is a good amount of space between tables, making it a comfortable dining experience. The Sous Vide Chicken with Mash Potato was the highlight for me. Perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Loved how the flavours incorporate so well together and the pasta too!
Drinks were great and staff were somewhat friendly too.
I really like the ambience of this place and would recommend this place for gatherings or big groups.
in the last weekThe cafe has a pleasant atmosphere and serves tasty food. Their coffee is excellent, making it an ideal spot for group gatherings.2 months agoThe most disappointing thing about Macallum is that 5 of the items I wanted from the menu is either out or “we no longer have this”. Menu is outdated but looked great. Eventually I ordered the baked cheese with eggs which is really good. Hence 4 stars, -1 for outdated menu. The coffee is great. But staff failed to communicate that there is an extra charge for switching to single origins coffee beans. -1 star.
Very large swanky warehouse conversion. Great appearance. But airconditioning is low, so feels uncomfortable after a while. Also seating is wood topped stools or metal chairs. This place deserves comfy soft chairs and sofas. And music. Customers will want to stay longer, bring friends, chit chat and reorder over a longer time there.
3 weeks agoFood: – smoked duck with passion fruit sauce: such a good idea as a snack! it was delicious! – coffee crumble cake: it was heated and tasted just right with the moistness of the cake and the crumbles on topCoffee: the best coffee I’ve ever had in Penang ?
Service: the staff is always super friendly and warm

8 months agoBeen to the rustic establishment at Campbell street a few times and this new upscale version of it is more of a restaurant, catering to a different segment of the market. Overall, the noodle taste were up to mark. The toast bread were kinda small. Overall, a good place for a decent local meal that you don’t have to line up.2 months agoVery nice place to have the breakfast, the shop locate near to the Bank Street, we entered since they open the shop. So, no need to wait for the seat.5 months agoSwing by for local coffee. Would say is quite well done, gao/thick but not overwhelming like some. Great place to chill after a good meal down the same street at Aunty Gail Lean’s. Would love to try the food some day.a week agoThe general atmosphere was acceptable and the food was mostly mediocre to normal. But the worst was the service, as the staff forgot one of our orders in spite of our constant reminders every 15 minutes. After almost 1 hour and several reminders, we were informed by the staff that the item we ordered was not available!!! And this was after we had inquired on why the order hadn’t arrived several times. Each of those times, the 2 lady staff took a look at our confirmation slip and mentioned the name of the dish (pesto pasta) and told us that they are aware of the order and that it was on the way. Only after the rest of us almost finished our food, were we informed that the dish wasn’t available…. So disappointing!!10 months agoLove the polo bun here; not overly sweet and the sauce seems to be drizzled with some balsamic vinegar which matched well with the burger components. The marmite chicken rice was just so-so. The rice was too hard and not fully cooked but the singapore bee hoon was really tasty. Overall, food was served fast and hot and at standard cafe prices
