2 weeks agoGreat stay, made a lot of fun meeting new people and making friends. Rooms are basic, but locker space is nice and large. Staff were great! Did the City walk with Kaat and she was so so nice and a great guide! Lovely relaxed city walk tour! Overall a great experience!a month agoI booked a private room for a 2 weeks stay in November 2023. The private room was okay, but none of the windows opened and it was completely stuck. I had to turn on the AC day and night. Other then that, the overall atmosphere was okay, there’s the whole hostel scenery downstairs with teens from different countries having drinks each night. Suggest getting a headphone if you need to have an early rest or you’ll end up waiting till 10pm for the bar to close and music to die down.Amenities are close by and easy to get a Grab for food orders and pickups at any time.
3 weeks agoHad a great time at Mad Monkey Bangkok! The entire staff was super helpful and nice. Pui checked us in and out and she was a great energy to enter and exit on. She was also super helpful when I had some trouble with my booking and made sure I had a place to stay even when Mad Monkey was full. The rooms were nice, the location is great, the set up is amazing. 10/10. Felt like a home away from home and the vibes were great. I do wish the Mad Adventures at this location were a bit more.2 weeks agoGood as a female solo traveller, did the walking tour Kaate which was really good for meeting people. The rooms have lockers for bags & another little lockable cupboard in your bed space. Beds are comfy enough, bigger than I expected for a hostel. The staff were helpful and accommodating. Good food. They go pub crawls etc too. Good location near Koh San Roada week agoRooms are basic but okay, you come to mad monkey for the social side which not to stay in your room. The social side did not disappoint get on the pub crawl it won’t disappoint! Idea for solo travellers, don’t worry about making friends!

Top Hostel Alternatives in Bangkok
Bangkok is a vibrant city that attracts millions of travelers every year. While hostels are a popular choice for budget-conscious travelers, there are also some fantastic alternatives that offer unique experiences and great value for money. Here are the top three hostel alternatives in Bangkok:
1. Guesthouses: Guesthouses are a popular alternative to hostels in Bangkok. These are small, family-run accommodations that offer a cozy and intimate atmosphere. Many guesthouses are located in Bangkok’s old town, close to popular attractions such as the Grand Palace and Wat Arun. Guesthouses typically offer private rooms with shared or private bathrooms, making them ideal for couples or solo travelers who value privacy. They often have communal areas where guests can socialize and meet fellow travelers.
- Popular guesthouses in Bangkok include New Siam Riverside Guesthouse, Baan Dinso @ Ratchadamnoen, and Phra Nakorn Norn Len.
- Guesthouses are usually cheaper than hotels but offer more privacy than hostels. Prices can range from to per night, depending on the location and facilities.
- Some guesthouses provide additional services such as airport transfers, tour bookings, and on-site restaurants.
