Really liked this place. Was very clean, staff were friendly, everything was very convenient. Stayed in early Jan 2024. Staff were so helpful. Loved the Kombucha. I always do one negative point – we travelled as two friends and they were a bit inflexible in terms of price so we could sleep in the same room. Some extra flexibility for folk travelling around would be appreciated.

Stayed here a couple nights during my Timor Leste trip. I really liked it. The girls working there are very sweet. They can cook for you, and the place is very, very clean. I hope to be back one day.

Da Terra ia a lovely oasis in the bustling Dili. Calm, quiet and comfortable we were made to feel so welcome by the gorgeous staff with a kombucha in hand. Finding good and well priced accomodation in Dili/ Timor generally is few and far between so we can’t recommend Da Terra enough because it is both wonderful and very well priced.

They have done a remarkable job at creating the space, most notably the 2 (!!) beautiful outdoor showers in private gardens offering both hot and cold showers.

The rooms are simple and comfortable with aircons and fans.

The staff are kind and generous and make your meal upon request. We were exhausted after a week of travelling around Timor so opted to have both lunch and dinner and were grateful to have had the choice. In hindsight, if we had more energy it would have been cheaper, and maybe better, to eat out but the meals were lovely and healthy.

It is also conveniently located being a manageable walk to the plaza and not far to jump on a microlet to get into the city centre and port.

Such an awesome spot, stayed here on two separate visits to Timor-Leste, Fernando and the girls really make you feel like you’re at home. Incredibly relaxed place full of good people. The food is on another level as well, always a meal to remember every time. Learnt so much about local ingredients and got an insight into permaculture thanks to Fernando. Can’t wait to stay again!

I rate this place 5/5 stars and it’s 10 mins from the airport and a short walk to the beautiful Timor Leste sea. It was a wholesome experience, extra value for money and the kindest hospitality you’ll ever experience from people who truly love what they do. Did I mention that you get an organic and freshly prepared breakfast all complimentary. The staff here are all locals so you truly get a sense of the culture and language. They were happy to answer questions about what to do and so helpful overall. I was able to observe local dishes being made as the staff were kind enough to have me take part in their preparation of meals…it’s was like a free cooking class. Make sure to have lunch and dinner here as it’s budget friendly and you’ll get to enjoy Timorese cuisines that’s all home cooked. A home brewed glass of cold kambucha was the first thing I was greeted to upon my arrival (so delicious). Highly recommend staying here.

Budget accommodation while Whale Watching: a must do! Make sure to ask Fernando (the very passionate owner) about staying in Bau Cau. Stay on a peaceful nature reserve surrounded by greenery and the lush abundance of trees and fruit (you eat whatever you can pick). Thank you for such a wholesome and peaceful stay.

This is probably the best hostel in Dili for $10 a night. The rooms are very clean, the a/c is strong, hot water high pressure shower, nice kitchen with refrigerator, huge TV in the common area with comfortable bean bag chairs, very fast wifi for Dili, kind staff, and the fellow occupants were interesting. The location is great, right behind Castaway (live music every Sunday) and the beach, nearby a great Mexican restaurant, supermarket, and Agora. The #9 microlet that passes out front can take you near Timor Plaza for 25 cents. I wouldn’t come here for the pool, though, because the water looked pretty dirty. Otherwise it’s perfect.

Very nice choice among hostels around. Cheaper then other options with better location.

But let’s face it – hostel is dirty. Well, its hostel 🙂

No hot shower. At all. Dili is pretty hot and dusty place and that’s why its crucial to have hot shower. Otherwise layers of street dirt won’t go anywhere from your face 🙂

Beds are nice, tho. Slept like dead and felt wonderful next morning.

The location was great. I stayed in one of the bungalows for a week and a half. Whilst the kitchen was basic the rest of the room was great with effective aircon. There is a beautiful restaurant just next door to it where i ate most nights. The staff where friendly and useful when asked about local attractions.

Great place very clean, More of a divers den than a Hostel. Staff were very friendly but didn’t have lots of information on what to see around town, what to do or where to go Which was a bit disappointing and really needs some work on if they wish to develop the industry. Overall great experience and Great location. Theres a good supermarket next door and public transport going in all directions. Good wifi and tasty food upstairs.
