My usual coffeeshop for a quick and cheap meal. the zichar, hokkien mee, bak chor mee and carrot cake are all pretty good. most people know 844 coffeeshop for jin hock zichar but a special mention for the hokkien mee, flavourful gravy paired with super spicy chilli. didn’t know they got on Straits Times until i took a closer look. The new western stall has a big menu but haven’t tried, not sure if it’s good.

  1. Meepok sold by this stall is very good. Al dente meepok or Mee Kia with giant fishballs ! She is really friendly and nice too.

  2. Love the stir-fry dong fen, but the stall owners’ faces are usually black and they aren’t friendly. Not too sure why that’s the case despite the good businesses they have…

Anyway other than the stir-fry dong fen, the nasi lemak stall beside it also not bad. Actually most of the stalls there aren’t that bad! Should go there to try at least once if you have yet to!

  3. Ordered ice lemon tea (display said homemade), I’ve asked for less sweet but it was pre-made, hence no adjustment! Nevermind… It Costs $1.80.

But lo and behold, it tasted horrible and fake lemon upon first sip! I can’t even finish it, it’s that bad!!! So bad I didnt even bother to take pix except for the food.

Besides its terrible taste, the price is not worth it! Other coffee shop’s offers at $1.50 and tastes even better and more authentic home made with taste of lemon and able to adjust sweetness. ?

  4. Tried this Kway chap set in this place. It is not as nice as others one which I have eaten. Not enough spices and taste a bit funny. Price is 5$/set.

  5. Its a damn food court now, rentals are high, stalls keep turning over, cost passed on to consumers. The neighbourhood atmosphere it once had is gone, now its purely profit focused.
