Interesting Chinese Restaurant

It is not common for a Chinese Restaurant to take up a shop lot under a block of flats. However, this restaurant has positioned itself well as a niche restaurant.

They serve xiao long bao, wantan soup, kou rou bao, and a number of others. Prices are very reasonable.

This is a small operation that seems to be run by just 2 persons who cook everything, serve customers and do cashiering.

This place is air-conditioned. Great place to beat the heat !

Food is quite nice. Service is slow and rather bad on a Sunday. No staff around when want to ask for refill for hot water for tea. The fat lady at the entrance basically cannot be bothered to serve or do anything else besides taking orders. Want cold water give hot water, asked for green chilli for the noodles to take away also never give. Basically can’t do anything right. If there are bookings, please do the basic and increase more staff or don’t take in more orders. Don’t tell your clients your problems and expect them to wait more than necessary. This just shows the greediness of the management of can’t keep up with the service.

Authentic way of serving the food. Everything tasted great. Love the Zhen Jiang Pork Ribs, sweet and flavourful with tiny pineapple cubes. Brinjal was good too. Chilled herbal jelly dessert was loved by the elders. Staff are on the ball, alert and responsive even during the lunch peak hour.

Salted egg prawns was packed with flavour a really fresh. Charsiew and roasted pork is the KL style, so it was really thick and tender. The winner here was the claypot brinjal. Coupled with a hot bowl of rice and brinjal sauce, fantastic. Portion size was quite big so we had to take away. Overall good impression, will come back with the fam.

It’s one of my family’s favourite eating places. Granted, they’re not cheap, but the service is great, and the food just as good!

We’ve come here on several occasions, and have never had a bad experience, either with staff or the food!

The staff come by every now and then to ask if we’re ok, and if we need anything. How can you fault such service? The food… For the myriad of dishes we’ve dug into on their menu, these come to mind. The Guiness Stout braised ribs. Not like the usual sweet ones we’ve gotten accustomed to, but almost like an oyster-sauce braised taste with fall off the bone meat! Their Claypot eggplant sizzles as we pick them up, and melts as we pop each morsel into our mouths!

Wasabi deshelled prawns. They don’t smother their crispy battered prawns with the sweet tangy sauce, but instead cover each one sparingly just enough to taste the sauce, but not enough to overwhelm the battered delights! Oh yes! Did I also mention, the batter was thin and crispy, and gave the prawns the right amount of crunch without stealing the thunder from them!

    1. We ordered sea cucumber duck, crispy chicken, cereal prawn, Yam ring,Fish Maw Soup, red wine pork rib, scallop fry brocolli and Birthday. The taste was good and portion was big. And the service was good, the waiter even help us to take family photo. Environment was confortable & short walking distance to carpark. Very good place for family gathering.

    2. Been wanting to have a traditional Chinese restaurant delicacy similar to the wedding type. Wonderful dinner here with all the favourite dishes! Will be back for more.

    3. Not many old school restaurants with genuine traditional taste left. Suckling pig, steamed fish, pork ribs, scallops with asparagus are superb. Skip the orh nee, machine blended until texture is slimy.

    4. Hidden Jem inside amk neighbourhood. Affordable and delicious Chinese Cuisine. Have a family gathering of 10 pax. Ordered deer meat, fried rice, cereal BIG juicy prawns, fragrance coffee pork ribs, tofu, fried ice cream(must order for kids), and customised vegetarian food for my wife. Well served and attentive staff. Parents and relatives happy and very full. Will go again during CNY.

    5. Found a hidden gem – a decent traditional Hokkien style Chinese restaurant smacked in the middle of AMK! Foods are nice (didn’t take pic of orhnee and char meesua).
Shoutout to the young Chinese national girl staff who is very friendly, attentive, and proactively making recommendations and small conversations with my parents!?
