All’s Good here, and like I mentioned earlier, it can get pricey, and on crowded evenings, a little noisy too, but like my Dad used to say, ‘Good things don’t always come cheap!’…

Googled for chinese restaurants to eat near AMK. Saw the reviews not bad, so give it a try to celebrate my father’s 70th birthday.

Made a reservation for 5 at 1130am. on a Saturday. When we arrived, it had only about 3 tables occupied. We were ushered to our table, and a menu was handed to my dad. Menu was quite extensive.

Servers were all like from Merdeka Generation and are polite and alert. We ordered:

Main dishes: 1. 1/2 peking duck – crispy skin wrapped with pancake > light, crispy skin and doesn’t have that ducky taste – meat fry with vermicilli noodles > vermicilli was moist and goes well with the duck meat

2. Wasabi Prawns > fresh prawns and wasabi sauce is not overpowering

3. Cod fish with teriyaki sauce > soft and moist cod fish. Timing to cook it was well-managed. Sauce was just right, not overly salty

4. Stir fry spinach with garlic > tender vegetables

5. Crabmeat Tofu > soft Tofu that had some small pieces of century eggs and crabmeat

6. Yam ring > light and crispy yam with XO fish slices and some vegetables. Missing cashew nuts that gives the extra crunch > can give it a miss.. so so

7. BBQ Twin Combination – char siew & roast pork > nicely charred char siew and crispy skin from roast pork > tad too thick on how they had chop it up

Desserts: 1. Yam paste with Gingko nut > little overly sweet for me >texture was smooth > not worth the calories unless you are a fan of this

2. Mango Sago > thumbs up. Worth the calories. > mango puree was thick and goes well with the scoop of ice-cream

3. Red bean pancake > skin was too thick with little red bean filling. > slightly over fried

4. Deepfried Ice-cream > not sure if the technique is not there as once it was cut open, literally the ice cream had melted and began to flow out. Ended up it was more of like ice cream soup with the batter

I find the pricing was little steep but my parents find otherwise. Total damage: $289.40

  1. We ordered sea cucumber duck, crispy chicken, cereal prawn, Yam ring,Fish Maw Soup, red wine pork rib, scallop fry brocolli and Birthday. The taste was good and portion was big. And the service was good, the waiter even help us to take family photo. Environment was confortable & short walking distance to carpark. Very good place for family gathering.

  2. Been wanting to have a traditional Chinese restaurant delicacy similar to the wedding type. Wonderful dinner here with all the favourite dishes! Will be back for more.

  3. Not many old school restaurants with genuine traditional taste left. Suckling pig, steamed fish, pork ribs, scallops with asparagus are superb. Skip the orh nee, machine blended until texture is slimy.

  4. Hidden Jem inside amk neighbourhood. Affordable and delicious Chinese Cuisine. Have a family gathering of 10 pax. Ordered deer meat, fried rice, cereal BIG juicy prawns, fragrance coffee pork ribs, tofu, fried ice cream(must order for kids), and customised vegetarian food for my wife. Well served and attentive staff. Parents and relatives happy and very full. Will go again during CNY.

  5. Found a hidden gem – a decent traditional Hokkien style Chinese restaurant smacked in the middle of AMK! Foods are nice (didn’t take pic of orhnee and char meesua).
Shoutout to the young Chinese national girl staff who is very friendly, attentive, and proactively making recommendations and small conversations with my parents!?
