3 months agoA pretty cool little airport, very easy to find your way around. Staff were super friendly. Lots of places to buy snacks. Immigration was easy, no queues. Toilets were clean and tidy. Small but worked well. There was a couple of nice gift shops as well.2 weeks agoSDK Airport is nothing but an usual domestic airport. However, the big Borneo Sun Bear sculpture (but in fact adult Borneo Sun Bear is relatively small at size about 130cm) is so interesting and let the passengers got some information about the Bear in Malaysia. I think it good.8 months agoIt is a small sized airport, with well kept and clean facilities. The immigration process was quite fast and the officers were quite professional and efficient. There is also a gift shop within the airport, if you are planning to buy some souvenir back home. The airport is 20-30 minutes from Sandakan Town Center.a year agoCute little airport. They have Starbucks at the exit & nothing much for eating choice after security clearance (air side).
You can easily find a grab (Asian Uber)
The old city is about a 15 minute drive.

One of the main gateways into East Malaysia, conveniently located not far from the city centre of Kota Kinabalu, the capital of the state of Sabah. Easy to get to or from town by taxi or Grab (the Uber equivalent in SEA). The airport is efficient and not too big, and you can pretty much walk to any gates within 10 minutes.
A beautiful airport with fabulous shops but we (from the UK) found it really difficult to navigate. We also didn’t realise that coming from Kuala Lumpur, that we would have to come through immigration, not that it was a problem, just long queues. Plenty of shops selling a variety of things including clothes, food, and large frozen fish – which was a little unusual but they were beautiful fish. Everyone was very helpful when asked – as always in Malaysia.
I I cannot get over after seven years, KK airport shops still sell the freezing food that is virtually becoming threat to environment due to extinction depleting creatures. displaying or selling sea cucumbers and that that is so precious to the sea bed that filters and keep the sea healthy and I still promoting it and selling it . As In 2008, the fishery officer said that the marine life in the area was down by 40% now it is virtually nothing and the reign so poor condition. in devastation and they call it a sustainable airport . And that fish tank is still full Algae Brown and slimy as it was seven years ago when I last came.I asked them why don’t they put a UV light in there and they just shook their heads. They said no time or no money. I hope next time I return, this would be looking a lot better and those fish will have a decent fish tank to live in thriving with lovely coal and glowing with colour.
Great airport, efficient, clean, spacious with plenty sitting areas, small but good choices of shops outside and inside the waiting area. Water dispenser in front of every toilet. I wish every airport would be like this ??
The airport is on average clean and has a good number of check-in counters and gates . You can buy fish here ?
There is a grab taxi pick up area but it’s a bit of a walk from the arrivals.
