This ATM worked well with my european revolut visa card. We used it twice, withdrawing 6,000,000 VND each time and we’re charged no fees!

I tried to withdraw 5.000.000 VND with a Mastercard and the fee was 100.000 VND. From what I saw, the fee was 20.000 VND for each 1.000.000 VND

The Biggest ATM in Vietnam

In Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam, there are several popular alternatives to ATMs that locals and tourists alike can take advantage of. These alternatives provide convenience, accessibility, and often offer additional services that go beyond simple cash withdrawals. Here are the top three ATM alternatives in Hanoi:

1. E-wallets: E-wallets have gained significant popularity in recent years due to their convenience and ease of use. These digital wallets allow users to store money and make transactions using their smartphones. In Hanoi, two of the most popular e-wallets are MoMo and ZaloPay. Users can link their bank accounts or credit cards to these platforms and make payments or transfer money to other users. E-wallets are widely accepted in various establishments such as restaurants, retailers, and even street vendors, making them an excellent ATM alternative.

  • MoMo: MoMo is one of the most widely used e-wallets in Vietnam, including Hanoi. Users can transfer money, pay bills, purchase mobile top-ups, and even send gifts digitally through the app. MoMo also provides cash withdrawal services at partner locations, including local convenience stores and retailers. This feature allows users to withdraw cash without an ATM card, making it a convenient alternative.
  • ZaloPay: ZaloPay, developed by the popular Vietnamese messaging app Zalo, offers similar functionalities as MoMo. Users can make payments, transfer money, and enjoy various promotions using the app. ZaloPay also enables cash withdrawals at participating partner stores, which helps eliminate the need for ATMs.

2. Internet banking: Most major banks in Hanoi provide internet banking services that allow users to manage their accounts and make transactions through online platforms or mobile applications. This convenient alternative allows users to transfer money, pay bills, and even request new cards or check their transaction history without the need for physical visits to a bank or an ATM.

  • Internet banking with Vietcombank: Vietcombank, one of Vietnam’s largest banks, offers a user-friendly internet banking platform. Users can manage their accounts, transfer money to other accounts, and pay bills electronically. Vietcombank’s internet banking also provides additional services such as foreign currency exchanges and investments.
  • Internet banking with Techcombank: Techcombank is another major player in the Vietnamese banking sector that offers internet banking services. Users can access their accounts through a secure online platform to perform various banking activities, including money transfers, bill payments, and balance inquiries. Techcombank’s internet banking also allows customers to apply for loans or credit cards.

3. Mobile banking: Similar to internet banking, mobile banking allows users to manage their accounts and make transactions using mobile applications provided by the banks. This alternative is particularly convenient for those who are always on the go and prefer to handle their banking needs through their smartphones.

  • Mobile banking with BIDV: The Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) offers a mobile banking app that enables users to access their accounts, transfer money, pay bills, and even purchase insurance policies. The app also provides real-time notifications for transactions and card activities for enhanced security.
  • Mobile banking with ACB: The Asia Commercial Bank (ACB) provides a user-friendly mobile banking app that allows customers to manage their accounts, transfer money, and pay bills. ACB’s mobile banking app also offers features such as card lock/unlock, money management tools, and special promotions.

These alternatives to ATMs provide added convenience and flexibility for both locals and visitors in Hanoi. Whether it’s using e-wallets for seamless cashless transactions, internet banking for easy account management, or mobile banking for on-the-go banking needs, these options offer an array of services that go beyond traditional cash withdrawals.
