8 months agoBe careful with BCEL ATM, we withdraw 50€ and the money didn’t got out. It was taken from our account anyway. The others are fine, just avoid BCEL.6 years agoGood6 years agoI think Pakse is a city in Laos where ATMs are surprisingly common. There are three ATMs lined up here (as of Feb 12, 2017), and only the BCE ATM on the left supports PLUS and Cirrus, which are likely to be used frequently by Japanese people. A fee of 20,000kip will be collected for each transaction.3 years agoThere is a 3% handling fee, but the ATM opposite only charges %2

Top ATM Alternatives in Pakse
Pakse, the largest city in southern Laos, offers a range of alternative options for accessing money besides traditional ATMs. These alternatives are especially useful for travelers who may encounter issues with ATM availability or compatibility. Here are three of the top ATM alternatives that are popular in Pakse:
- Currency Exchange Offices: Currency exchange offices are widely available in Pakse, particularly in popular tourist areas such as the city center and near the Pakse International Airport. These offices allow you to convert your foreign currency into Lao kip, the local currency. While the exchange rates may not be as favorable as at a bank, currency exchange offices provide a convenient way to obtain cash in the local currency.
- Hotels and Guesthouses: Many hotels and guesthouses in Pakse offer currency exchange services for their guests. They may accept major foreign currencies, such as US dollars or euros, and provide competitive exchange rates. However, it’s advisable to check whether there are any associated fees or restrictions before using this option.
- Credit Card Cash Advances: If you have a credit card, you can consider using it to withdraw cash as a cash advance. Before relying on this option, it’s important to check with your credit card provider to ensure that your card is accepted in Laos and to understand any associated fees or interest rates for cash advances. Some larger hotels and establishments in Pakse may accept credit cards for payment, but it’s always a good idea to carry some cash as a backup.
While these alternatives offer flexibility in obtaining cash in Pakse, it’s important to note that it’s always a good idea to carry sufficient cash for your needs, as ATMs may still be the most convenient and widely available option in many destinations.
