Top ATM Alternatives in Siem Reap

The Biggest ATM in Cambodia

Siem Reap, a popular tourist destination in Cambodia, offers various alternatives to ATMs for convenient and hassle-free money transactions. Here are the top three ATM alternatives that are widely used in Siem Reap:

  • Cash exchanges: Currency exchange booths can be found throughout Siem Reap, particularly in high-traffic areas like Pub Street and the Old Market. These booths provide a quick and easy way to exchange foreign currency for Cambodian Riel or US dollars. It’s important to compare exchange rates and fees before making a transaction to ensure you get the best deal.
  • Mobile payment apps: In recent years, mobile payment apps have gained popularity in Siem Reap. Apps like Pi Pay and Wing allow users to link their bank accounts or credit cards and make payments or transfers through their smartphones. These apps are convenient for both locals and tourists and can be used for various transactions, including shopping, dining, and even transportation.
  • Traveler’s checks: Traveler’s checks are a safe and secure alternative to carrying large amounts of cash. Several banks and money exchange offices in Siem Reap accept traveler’s checks, although they are less commonly used compared to cash or mobile payment apps. It’s important to note that traveler’s checks may have fees associated with their purchase or cashing.

It’s always advisable to have a combination of payment methods when traveling to Siem Reap. Carrying a mix of cash, traveler’s checks, and using mobile payment apps can provide flexibility and convenience in different situations. Additionally, it’s a good idea to notify your bank or credit card provider about your travel plans to avoid any issues with accessing your funds.
