The 7 Biggest Cultural Site in Penang
This is one of the must visit places when in Penang.
It’s a historical house that a rich Chinese businessman had built in the late 1800s early 1900s.
The businessman was so rich that he also built a Chinese Temple next door, as well as a separate museum, with a dining room and kitchen buildings at the rear.
A lovely mansion that is well furnished with beautiful furnishings, and easily takes you back to yesteryear.
The Temple, museum and the kitchen are also worth visiting and are all included in the one entry price of 25RM as at Oct 2023.
I visited during the off-peak season and it was somewhat busy, but in peak season it could possibly be crowded.
The buildings are air-conditioned and this makes for an excellent atmosphere and encourages taking the time to view all that is on display. Allow between 1-3 hours to see everything depending on how much time you wish to spend taking in the great experience and looking at all the wonderful features, details and displays.
The history of how he made his fortune, including tin mining, is also interesting and worth reading about.
Excellent attraction. Enjoy.

Entrance fee is rm25. Worth the trip and the price. You ALSO get free access to the Georgetown Mansion with the receipt you bought here since they just opened up and doing promotions to attract more tourist.
The place is pretty big and has lots to see and read. Many good photoshoot spots. There are English and Chinese tour guides included that start every now and then or when the group is big enough.

Follow the guided tour and you can have a better understanding of Peranakan culture and their history. The displays are very antique and there are great collections for us to appreciate. After the tour, you can spend more time on your own to see every details of the collections. It is suitable for people who likes culture and history.
