The 7 Biggest Hostel in Yangon

Localbiz Cover

Shwe Yo offers free tickets on the city train that goes in a loop around Yangon and into the country. This is a fun, chill afternoon and a great way to meet locals and see a whole lot you wouldn’t otherwise. The owners also provide a wonderful home cooked meal for breakfast every morning — they take great pride in it and for good reason! It’s usually simple but quite satisfying.

Cleanliness is just fine–the rooms are well-maintained, and the bathroom has no issues. There isn’t too much space–the hostel fills up very quickly and the common area is rather small–but honestly, this is more than made up for by the stellar workers, the icy A/C (!) and the breakfast.

I would give it 6 stars if I could. The owners have poured their hearts and souls into this place. They will do everything in their powet to ensure you are taken care of. They will help you book any tickets and will sit down and plan your stay in Myanmar. They provide a great and healthy breakfast. It’s super clean with huge bathrooms and beds. It’s in a great area close to a nice grocery store and lots of things to do. On our last day, they let us store our bags and shower at the hostel before our flight home in the evening. We caught terrible food poisoning from another restaurant and they took wonderful care of us. I can’t wait to go back and see our lovely Burmese family.

Great, clean hostel. There are lockers in the rooms for valuables and the beds are comfortable. Each bunk in the dorms has its own socket, light, and curtains. The showers and rooms are cleaned daily. The free breakfast is incredible. We’ve stayed here both times we were in Yangon and will come back if we ever return to Myanmar.

The staff is amazing, they really go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable here. I ended up getting Dengue Fever and they got me a taxi to the hospital, I didn’t have to lift a finger- everything was taken care of (which is a huge relief when you’re sick and far away from home). The food was great & the beds are super comfortable (and big!). Highly recommend staying here if you want a little slice of home away from home. Thanks guys!

Food from the rooftop bar can be a little pricey but still okay. Came to use the shared working space and it was nice. You can have free flow coffee and tea and water (ofc) in the working area. 4000 mmk/hr seems a bit overpriced but if you need to work remotely with a stable electricity and internet and don’t want to go to coffee shops where you can be a little distracted, this can be a good choice. Btw, beautifully decorated interiors, great for some casual photoshoots.
