Nice atmosphere and the owner seemed very welcoming, but very expensive given other cocktail bars of similar quality we tried in Laos. Travelling from London it felt not far from London prices which was in stark contrast to the rest of the trip.

While traveling for 4 months I’ve wandered into more than my share of cocktail bars, everywhere from Madrid to Rome to Istanbul to Chiang Mai. The Icon Klub is my absolute favorite.

Yes, it’s more expensive than some places in Luang Prabang, but the drinks are better and the atmosphere is priceless. It’s the sort of place where conversation flows freely, and strangers quickly become friends.

Lisa (who owns the place and tends bar) is a lovely soul, and she serves up inspired original cocktails along with well-crafted classics, some of them with a unique spin.

For the week that I’m here I’ll be a regular — and I’ll hope to talk with you there.
