Every aspect of the itinerary has been meticulously arranged, and the accommodations and transportation have been excellent! We were luckily of having Cynthia as our tour guide. She has efficiently arranged hotel check-ins ahead of our arrival, saving us from the hassle and waiting time during check-in. 2 months agoRecently we paid for a 5D4N Nostalgic Hong Kong Tour from 25 – 29 Nov for our family of 8. The reason why we chose Hong Thai despite the bad reviews on Google was that my mother was impressed with the service provided in the past when we went on a few family trips with Hong Thai. But we were left feeling vastly disappointed with the recent trip.1. Flight arrangements: We requested for 4 aisle seats and for the family to be seated together. In the end, we got only 3 aisle seats and the worse part was that the toddler child was seated far away from our family and alone in a window seat for both ways. We had to swap seats just so that we could be seated next to our toddler child who was taking airplane for the first time. We certainly did not expect this as we had emphasised a few times and asked if we needed to check in online ourselves to allow us to be seated together as a family before the trip.
2. Hotel room arrangements: When booking the tour, we asked about connecting rooms as my sister was bringing her toddler son on her own so we needed to help her at times. As this was not possible, Hong Thai mentioned to assign rooms near to each other for us. When we reached Hong Kong, our rooms were originally assigned on different floors! The tour guide managed to swap so that we were all on the same floor, but one room was at the other end and in a different wing from the rest of the rooms. This made it very inconvenient for my family. I had to call the hotel front desk on my own to put my request on wait list for an available nearby room to do a switch which was done after 2 days.
3. Meal arrangements: The tour guide informed us that we would have dim sum breakfast and organised activities with lunch on 26 – 27 Nov. As my toddler nephew was sick, my sister and mother stayed behind in the hotel to care for him instead of joining the tour that we paid for. We were not informed if hotel breakfast could be provided for them. So my sister and mother had to get their own breakfast and lunch in between taking care of my sick toddler nephew on 26 – 27 Nov. My mother was so tired that she fell sick the following day.
In fact, we were given the impression that all meals including breakfast were not catered for on 28 – 29 Nov as the tour guide said that it was free and easy on 28 – 29 Nov. We were only informed of the time to check out and the arrival time of the bus to take us to the airport for the flight on the last day. So we paid for our own breakfasts on 28 – 29 Nov for all eight of us until just before departure on 29 Nov, another fellow traveller mentioned that actually there was hotel breakfast provided for us.
Overall: Our requests on flight seating and room arrangements for our family of 8 were not acceded to and we were left largely on our own to manage, not to mention having to spend extra money on meals that were supposed to be catered for but not communicated clearly to us. In fact, an elderly couple in the tour group went missing at the start of lunch on 26 Nov. Luckily, a fellow traveller in the group alerted the tour guide so that they could be found in time before they wondered off further and got totally lost in a foreign land. Looking at how things were done, I will not trust Hong Thai with my elderly parents if they have to travel on their own in an organised tour under Hong Thai as they may also be lost in a foreign land. We had to help the elderly couple and let them tag along with us so they knew where to go to take the flight home. The only plus point was that the staff in Singapore who received us at Changi Airport on the first day, whose name I did not get, helped us to collect our SIM cards at Changi Wifi counter as we have forgotten to do so in a hurry to check in and were unable to come out to collect on our own. Hence I don’t think our family will want to go on a tour with Hong Thai after this bad experience or recommend families with elderly parents or very young children to book tours with Hong Thai.
2 months agoNOT EVEN 1 STAR! Am force to rate 1 star, if not I am unable to leave the review. This is my 1st experience to book my Hokiddo trip for 10-18 Jan 2024 through Natas Fair in Aug 2023 with Hong Thai Travel. Firstly they told me at least 9 pax then the trip can be form. However the sales person told us 8 pax confirm can go. At that time there are a total of 6 pax.Mid Oct 2023, I called to check with them the status. They told me there are still 6pax which still cannot confirm the trip, they will inform 3 weeks before the departure date, told me to call again in a later time. Mid Nov 2023, no call no sms not even email I called again. This time round they told me trip still not confirm as pax not enough. Unable to check how many pax there are now for this trip package as their system unable to check. They will inform me 2-3 weeks before departure date. From 3 weeks become 2 weeks, how am I going to plan for my leave???!!!! If unable to form the trip, they will refund us the deposit ($1.5k per pax) which needs 3 weeks to process.
Today, 1 Dec 2023 I called again. Change their statement again. From 9pax now to 10pax!!!!!!!!!! Ask them check how many pax for now they mentioned unable to check. Also from 3 weeks before departure to confirm the trip, now become 2 WEEKS!!!!!!!!
So what? I have to be like an idiot quietly sit there waiting for Hong Thai to call me to confirm for the status? (Which I doubt they will).
I am VERY DISAPPOINT & DISGUST for their service. We happily looking forward for this trip and because of Hong Thai service, it brings me down.
I will NEVER EVER book with Hong Thai Travel again. I hope the management will PRO-ACTIVE, BE RESPONSIBLE to treat all their clients. Conclusion: BAD SERVICE, IRRESPONSIBLE, HORRIBLE!
2 months agoPlease do not engage Hong Thai agency for ANY of your tours! My family booked a 8D7N Taiwan tour with them in Aug 2023 during their travel fair. The salesman- Kelvin Loh sold us the tour package and have clearly said that they will call us 2-3 weeks before the departure date on 15th Nov to confirm that the tour have sufficient ppl to set off. However, till 3rd Nov (2 weeks) before the travel date, there was no news, I’ve called them over 4 times to which there wasn’t any reply.
Nvm, so my parents went down to SQ travel fair which was happening on the same week to check in with them personally. Kelvin Loh claimed that the tour will set off confidently and that they will contact us again.
Fast forward till 7th Nov, where they arranged for my parents to head down to pay remaining deposit. It is only then Kelvin Loh said that the tour wasn’t able to set off due to insufficient participants and recommended another itinerary instead which required us to TOP UP SGD300 each and departs 1 day earlier on 14th Nov. He also wanted my parents to give an answer ON THE SPOT, citing fears on lack of airline tickets.
While at the same time, as my parents questioned the lack of prompt updates, Kelvin insisted that missed calls were given to us but obviously that’s false.
I requested to speak to him directly as my parents were being pushed around by his nonsensical reasoning. When questioned on producing miss call evidence from call logs, Kelvin was quiet. When questioned how can we give an answer ON THE SPOT, when not everyone works in an industry that leave taking is so easy. He remained quiet and extended it till the next day.
Thankfully all is cleared and we are willing to give Hong Thai ANOTHER CHANCE despite this mistake and proceeded with them.
On 8th Nov, I wanted to reach out to them via call to inform them on the decision. I gave a total of 15 MISSED CALLS to their hotline, either the call was badly answered by the staffs or not picked up. I wonder whats the point of having hotline when calls are not answered??
Kelvin was then contacting my mum whom was listed as the main contact person to clarify on the status of our tour. Despite her attempts in telling him to call me directly, he continued to contact my mum. WHO OBVIOUSLY IS A EASIER ELDERLY TO MANAGE AND GET YOUR WAY THROUGH. So my mum finally managed to inform him that we are proceeding and he told my mum that he was too busy on 8th Nov to settle the remaining payment and told them to come on Friday OR NEXT WEEK?? mind you the next Monday was 13th Nov- Deepavali PH and we are already flying on 14th Nov??
Anyways I decided to head down and do what we needed to settle. Why is it that your busyness is limiting my freedom to come in my own timing as a customer to pay remaining balance?
In the office, Kelvin’s attitude was poor, he did not see us in our eyes and brushed us off, telling us to sit down while he continue settling his other stuffs. He then told his junior to manage us instead, somehow his junior was WAY better than him in service and meticulousness.
So guess what, his junior told us that the top up for each person is SGD 200. I was shocked that there is a discrepancy of SGD 100 from the top up amount of SSGD 300 that Kelvin quoted on 7th Nov to my parents??
Wow, I wonder where that SGD 100 was supposed to go to?? ue after another!
The itinerary given and where we were brought to had differences, tour guide cited that the itinerary that they had was different from the one Hong Thai publicised and gave us.
Lastly, in the manual that Hong Thai gave us, it cited that 8 days of tour package= 800NTD for tour guide tips. But guess what, the tour guide verbalised that each person is to pay 1080NTD instead with 120 NTD per day per pax. But on the 1st day we landed at 10pm, our 2nd last day was free and easy and last day we departed form hotel at 415am for the flight. Even though, its a 9 days tour, technically the tour guide only served us for 6 days but charged us 9 days anyways???
2 months agoService is very horrible , I have a package on 9/12 holiday for group. On 6/11 I go to company check and they will say give me answer got confirm. On 11/11 I miss call and call back Hong Thai company, this is a super horrible service and didn’t give any answer and ask me wait they will call me . What is service, can last minute confirm, is very unfair we confirm our company leave for holiday package4 months agoThe itinerary given to yunan and actual tour is different this is really cheating. When I request the in charge to give us a call at least explain why isit so no one bother to contact us. Front desk staff super rude also . BOOK At YOUR OWN RISK!
