The National Museum was very much as anticipated, a trove of important cultural treasures and a visual narrative showing the history of Thailand, Siam and its predecessor nations. Beginning with exhibits of pottery, bronze and other artifacts from its prehistoric roots and continuing almost to the present day there are exhibits depicting the art of every period. Fittingly, for a nation so rich in Buddhist history, a large percentage of the exhibits are Buddhas in many forms. I especially appreciated how the connections with Khmer and other surrounding cultures were presented.

We were lucky to have joined a guided tour unintentionally because we made it before a group started. Sarah was such a kind guide, and she accommodated questions even from my silly and talkative 5-year old niece. The collection was truly enormous and very rich to digest in a single visit, and we could for three hours unfortunately. I would have stayed longer if not for my senior citizen mom and my niece. No doubt, the museum is a testimony to how much Thai people are proud of their cultural heritage and history.

A great place to learn about the history of Thailand! A lot of interesting artefacts and plenty of educational plaques in English to read. Generally not too busy either, so you can have exhibits to yourself. However don’t come here if you don’t like seeing Buddhas, as about 80% of the museum are Buddha statues and figurines.

A cool interactive museum about what it means to be Thai and what “thainess” is. A very interesting modern exposition, where both children and adults hang out for 2-2.5 hours for sure. Lots of details, thoughtful space, interesting interaction with the exhibits! We had a great time, we didn’t want to leave. Excellent English audio guide. Friendly service! Totally recommend ??

Wonderful interactive exhibition for those who want to better understand Thailand and what being Thai means. My visit lasted about 3 hours and I enjoyed my time there very much. Almost every room got my attention and gave me the information I wanted. Before leaving the museum, I bought the book of the exhibition because it is very well done as the exhibition itself.

Cool place to spend time with friends and learning about Thailand in modern style. Interesting exhibition about fast fashion and they always keep changing, I assume. The section where they explained history of Thailand are quite creative! Many fun activities to do. They also have backdrops and traditional clothes for you to tried and take pictures.

“In the beginning, I harbored the notion that the museum would be rather dull, merely showcasing an antiquated representation of Thai identity. As it happened, my initial impressions were completely off the mark. The exhibition exceeded my expectations, seamlessly integrating technology in a way that resonated with individuals from the ’90s, much like myself.
