  Worst experience EVER!!!!! The place was empty and it took us 1 hour to send some post cards. The staff was super rude and made everything they could to made the process super hard, specially pretending they didn’t see us. Prices were very high so I have the impression that they might have overcharged us. Seriously! After spending 3 amazing weeks meeting lots of nice and friendly Vietnamese people, this was very disapointing. Even though we tried to speak a few words we know in their language to show we were making an effort, and using the translator, they were very very impolite pretending they didn’t see or heard us. And also replying our questions in a very loud and non patient way. A very unpleasant and uncomfortable experience here in Hanoi. We used the services of the main post office in Saigon and there the lady was super helpful and friendly.

  The old building of the post office of Hanoi. It is still a service center, however, it is very old. The clock tower is one of the symbol associated with the Sword Lake.

  Clerks were very helpful, but Vietnam PO has strict shipping rules. Shipping costs to EU & USA are prohibitively high. Almost double the price of Thailand’s PO. Don’t trust their on-line S&H costs calculator, as it’s misleading.

  I was disappointed to learn that Vietnam Post only offers air mail and not surface service. To make matters worse, the regulations prohibit sending any goods (such as souvenirs) in a letter-type package. They have to be inside a box. The cost of a box parcel weighing less than 500 grams is 500,000 VND.

  AVOID SENDING POSTCARDS FROM HERE!! Posted four postcards from this Post Office on 10th October 2023 for four different locations in India, however, still as on date no delivery has been made. Seems like I’ve been looted.

  Very helpful lady at the counter, spoke good English which was a bonus. I sent just over 2kgs to Australia and it cost $77 AUD. Which I was satisfied with. Regular air mail, expected time 1 month. Also given a tracking number and website info! Cash only, recommend agribank with only a 22,000 fee compared to the atm that’s close by Seabank which was a 50,000 fee
