The church has an amazing history and terrific architecture. Don’t pass the museum by next door. Adults 200p and worth every peso. Have Inc some pics. You can get into the other parts of the church via museum. But ask if a wedding service or event is taking place while you are there because they will close church off at this time.

San Agustin Church was constructed in 1586 and completed in 1607 by Spanish Augustinian friars. The church is known for its Baroque architecture, with its distinctively ornate facade and a combination of local and Spanish design elements. The church has survived earthquakes, fires, and wars over the centuries. It has witnessed numerous historical events and has played a central role in the country’s colonial past.

It is a church with a long history, the surface of the walls are quite dark, indicating perhaps a low level of maintenance. One of the two towers has collapsed during an earthquake and the ring that hangs it in the tower has placed inside the church.

The interior is amazing with wonderful oil paintings on the windows, stuccoes on the walls and pillars, ceiling paintings, and a magnificent pulpit. It should be on the must see list for visitors in Manila.

When you are in Manila, please visit the historic heart of the city: Intramuros. You will relax from the frenzy of the capital of the Philippines and you will travel back in time. San Augustin has survived wars and catastrophes. It’s the oldest catholic church in the country and it’s beautiful. Don’t forget to visit the museum next door, as you will have the chance to see the monastery-convent of San Augustin.

It’s church which is world heritage. It looks very standard church. It looks nothing special. However it seems like the oldest church in philippines, the current one is 3rd built building though. Anyway, the good thing is that you can take a look calmly because there are not so many people even weekends.
