I chose to go with IRB’s junior lawyer to review my contract because the junior lawyer charged the least amongst the other law firms I inquired with. I discovered that the junior lawyer had started at IRB only a month ago, which explained the lack of a profile on their website.

I understand that I cannot expect top-notch service from a junior lawyer for a low fee, but the quality of service was not satisfactory at all. The junior lawyer merely copied and pasted the clauses as part of her “review”. Even from her copying and pasting, she was missing out on some of the details. I could see that she was not a meticulous person. I was disappointed that she did not read the contract from her client’s perspective (i.e. my viewpoint) and advise on the fairness of the contract.

Disappointed with her service, I had to conduct my own review and identified several clauses that needed amendment as they were unfair to me. I was frustrated that the junior lawyer had not addressed these concerns to me.

I sent the revision back to the junior lawyer for her to take a quick look the next day but she did not bother responding, despite her knowing that I had a deadline to comply with. She could have responded to me on the same day with a simple reply if she was not willing to review them.
