This is a prison which was built in the end of 19th century, converted into a museum. It’s one of the major tourist sites of Hanoi. Entry fee has to be paid at the door and an additional fee is charged if you want audio guide. It takes around 30 min to 1 hour to visit all the cells and look at the exhibits of items used during those days. There are posters displayed regarding the wars. Overall, a place worth visiting if you are interested to know about the political history of Vietnam

This would be an interesting museum to visit if you are interested in Vietnam’s political history, with interesting lifelike exhibits and informative labels. There is an option for an audio guide at VND 100K, although I ultimately think it’s not necessary unless you are really into the prison’s history. Also, it would take quite a while to listen to every part of the guided tour, so we actually skipped quite a few sections.

Entrance is VND 30K, and there is also a really interesting souvenir shop selling things such as propaganda poster postcards.
