Easy to find the starting point… where the climbing begings, and do note, it is climb all the way up. Route easy to follow. With good pace (and condition) it takes 25-30mins, resting once awhile 35-40mins. From end of the trail it is aprx. 10mins walk to Big Buddha.

Nice bars with great view along the way from trail to Big Buddha. Dont stop the first one, but walk a bit furrher to a smaller idyllic place if you want to enjoy some exceptional views and more cozy feeling.

It is a good challenging hike, ideal in the morning before it gets too hot. I start from Patak Rd Soi 12 and it is approximately 45 minutes to the top end of the trail. Add another 10 minutes if you want to walk from the top end of the trail to the Big Buddha. The trail itself is marked and there are ropes in place to assist in the steep parts.

Took a grab to the trailhead, began my climb and took about a litre of water. Total moving time was 28 mins to the main road, then a 10 min walk to the big Buddha. Even on a dry day the way up and down was slippery and sandy in my running shoes. A lovely jungle hike and the locals are nice and will help if you ask. You will be sweating buckets by the end. Bug spray is helpful. Don’t interact with the monkeys they are thugs

Excellent trail. Decent level of fitness required. Take water and bug spray. We didn’t see any, but others mention seeing snakes. I wouldnt attempt after heavy rain or during hottest times of day. It’s short (about 1km) and steep (300m elevation gain). Pretty well maintained jungle path, ropes to assist on steepest parts. Arriving at Big Buddha for sunrise or sunset is stunning.

Great trail, but quite demanding. Be ready to sweat and definitely have sure footing. Nice walking sticks available for the home

Best way to see the big Buddha from Kata beach

Interesting, but: – do not go at night (snakes, scorpions) – do not go after rain (slippery) – do not go in the middle of the day (can be too hot)

Otherwise I would recommend since there are not many places to hike nearby

Hard walk gets very slippery when it has been raining . Walking too the trail from kata beach is very steep.

I am not rating the trail but I want to take your attention. I took it today and almost stepped on a monocled Cobra. One of the most deadly you can encounter. Wear long pants and / or snake proof gaiters. AND WATCH CAREFULLY YOUR STEPS. They usually rise and hiss before biting. But still, gather information on what to do if bitten. It can save a life.
