a year agoWe did a one day tour with Xai as our guide and we had an incredible experience! He was knowledgeable, comical, and we never felt rushed even with a full day of activities. I recommend this company if you’re looking for more unique, less crowded experiences! We will be using them next time we come back to Laos for sure!4 years agoI felt very comfortable at the Vang Vieng Challenge. The equipment looked new and trustworthy in my eyes. Maeng, our guide, took very good care of the group. The group was cooked by the whole crew in the evening, we were offered a small campfire, and we even had coffee in the morning. I felt warmly welcomed by the three guides. The views during the Zip Linings were breathtaking and the sunrise on the hut as well.5 years agoWe went to Vang Vieng challenge with them, and I must say it is worth every penny. The guides are extremely caring and nice. The route up is quite challenging (hot and humid), but worth the view and the ride down.
4 years agoWe went to Vang Vieng challenge and it was absolutely great experience we never forget, highly recommend!4 years agoDid the one day Vang Vieng challenge and it was so worth it. Had a wonderful time hiking and climbing up to the waterfall. Being able to cool down and swim underneath the waterfall was also pleasant. Our guides did everything possible for us to enjoy the journey. Once leaving the wooden house by the waterfall, you make your way down by ziplineing and rappelling from great heights. You get a wonderful view of Laos nature.

a week agoPick a different tour agency.I’m giving it two stars because we did make it to our destination.
Nearly impossible to get ahold of this company after booking. We booked train tickets and never received confirmation that they were ever purchased. Countless messages, emails, and phone calls over 4 days were ignored. Finally managed to contact a helpful lady for confirmation and pickup instructions the night before departure. Turns out the train time changed by two hours, so if I hadn’t gotten a hold of her we never would have known.
The driver was supposed bring our tickets when he picked us up; he didn’t. Got a lot of attitude from them when we had to detour to the tour agency location to pick up all the tickets.
The one lady was very helpful, but I can’t recommend this company. Book through your hotel/hostel.
3 weeks agoNo good, 1 star only cause it won’t let me post. Drivers are illiterate and 1-2hrs late in total, with inadequate excuses. Vans packed to the brim with no where to move, when passengers explain that there’s no space for a 4 hour trip, people were threatened aggressively by driver and office workers via video call. Totally uncalled for especially when everybody pays the same amount of money. Would definitely not use this company again, and looking at the horrible reviews already present, was my bad for not checking before hand.Disclaimer: I have been traveling Laos for the past 5 weeks and have never had any sort of disgusting experience such as this one.
2 months agoThe driver got us there and back, so that’s one star. But people were packed like sardines inside, not everyone had a normal seat with a backrest, one person had to sit on a very small „stool” without the backrest, even though she paid the same price as the rest. The drive was definitely not comfortable. Besides, we were supposed to have 3 hours at the waterfall, but had only 2 hours 15 minutes. Definitely not what was promised.5 years ago3 days trip organized by Laos Group ToursWe just spent 3 full days in Luang Prabang with the itinerary organized by Tom.
We spent the first day to walk around the town, visited some temples and enjoyed the stunning view from Phousi Mountain. Thanks to the map provided by Laos Group Tours, we got ourselves around without any difficulties.
We booked the slow boat tour and elephant ride for the second day. It’s really worth a try. The slow boat tour brought us to a village called Xiang Hai where local people make their special alcohol and colorful scarf. We also visited a cave with a lot of Buddha statues. The most exciting part of the day was the elephant ride. We were brought to see the elephants after a decent lunch. The elephants look well taken care of. We even feed them some bananas before the ride. We chose to ride the elephant without putting the chair on it. And it turned up to be so exciting and challenging at first. After getting used to it, we did really enjoy the ride. We even had chance to swim with the elephants in Mekong River; the water was a bit dirty though :))
The third day was for the most famous waterfall, Kuang Si. As expected, the waterfall is definitely a must visit place. Its water was so clear that we could see the fish swimming around. No pictures can capture better than your eyes. So if you ever visit Luang Prabang, this place is totally worth a try.
We will recommend Tony Hostel and Laos Group Tours to our friends if they plan to visit Luang Prabang. Thanks Tony, Tom and the team!
4 years agoThe guys at the office were very friendly, spoke some English and courteous. When you book a “private” minivan, make sure to ask if there will be other people because some in our group very surprised and expected to be the only people on the minivan. Prices are good too, 30,000 per person to go to the waterfall. The driver was not friendly, rude and drove like a maniac. Wanted two adults and a child to fit into a two seat spot but we said that we paid for 3 so he let us back into our 3 spots. He even basically pushed a guy back into the van because he wasn’t moving fast enough. Pickup was at the hotel but on the way back, the driver just stopped at the main office without saying a word. We had to walk back to our place but were happy to be out of the van and away from the crazy & rude driver.

Top Local Tour Guide Alternatives in Vientiane
When visiting Vientiane, the capital city of Laos, having a local tour guide can greatly enhance your experience and provide valuable insights into the city’s culture, history, and hidden gems. While there are many excellent local tour guides available, here are three popular alternatives that offer unique experiences:
- Audio Guides: If you prefer exploring at your own pace, audio guides can be a great option. These guides provide pre-recorded commentaries and information about various attractions in Vientiane. You can choose from different languages and customize your tour based on your interests. Audio guides allow you the flexibility to spend more time at places that interest you and skip those that don’t. They are also typically more affordable than hiring a personal tour guide.
- Bicycle Tours: Vientiane is a relatively small city, making it ideal for exploring on a bicycle. Bicycle tours are a popular alternative to traditional guided tours as they offer a more active and immersive experience. You can join a group tour or hire a local guide to take you to the city’s major attractions and lesser-known spots. Cycling through Vientiane gives you the opportunity to see the city from a different perspective, interact with locals, and discover charming alleyways and markets.
- Tuk-Tuk Tours: Tuk-tuks, three-wheeled motorized vehicles, are a common mode of transport in Vientiane. A tuk-tuk tour allows you to explore the city comfortably while enjoying the breeze and panoramic views. Many local tuk-tuk drivers offer guided tours, taking you to popular landmarks and providing insights into Vientiane’s history and culture. Tuk-tuk tours are a convenient and fun way to navigate the city streets, especially if you have limited time or prefer a more leisurely pace.
No matter which alternative you choose, these options offer unique ways to explore Vientiane and experience its charm, history, and local culture. Don’t forget to do some research or read reviews to find reputable and knowledgeable guides or service providers that align with your preferences and interests.
